Life is a roller coaster of events, emotions, choices, and outcomes. We cannot choose what happens to us, but we can make the most of what we are given. Since the topic of life is subjective, I only wanted to share a few ideas that will make you examine your life and possibly improve your outlook on it.
Firstly, I believe that people who suffer daily understand how precious life truly is, and know what true struggle is. We, who have to choose between an iPad and an iPod, do not have any right to complain or judge others. People who have to choose between feeding themselves and feeding their children are the ones who know the value of life. Many people have encountered horrible life events and still triumph. There is great strength in facing adversity and conquering it. So before complaining about anything, maybe try appreciating what you do have.
I look at life as a complete summation of all the people, choices, emotions, and actions that we have encountered. So many different people cross our paths and enter our lives for a certain purpose. Once that person has fulfilled their purpose, it is time for them to move on. We are not aware of this, and sometimes cling to those people. Then, there are people whose purpose is to remain with you forever and become the ones who matter the most. It is difficult to determine who is mean to play a main character in our lives and who is only supposed to make a cameo in our lives. Because of this difficulty, it is important to treat each person with respect, kindness, and appreciate our loved ones.
Our choices are what make life interesting and unique. What we choose to do and not do, how we choose to feel and act, all combine to make up our personalized life. Emotions are what drive us. Passion, fear, uncertainty, love, compassion, hate, etc. all emotions and feelings drive us to continue on whatever path we started on. Though certain situations evoke specific emotions, it is our choice to give in to them. Actions are the moments where choice meets emotion and there is an outcome. These outcomes are the defining points, whether good or bad, which make up life. We have a choice of taking a back seat, and let life take us where it wants, or we can get in the driver’s seat and take control. Turn a bad situation into a good one. Remain positive about your choices, and never be pressured to do anything that you do not want to do.
Overall, in order for you to have a fulfilling life, you must be happy with yourself, with all of your choices, and satisfied with your life experiences. Remember that it is never too late to change your life, and each day brings the opportunity for new experiences. Take each event in stride, no matter how challenging and continue to act on what you feel is right. I am not promising a life void of heartache, loss, grief, and suffering, but I am offering a new perspective on how to handle those inevitable aspects. Starting right now, seek out what drives your soul; continue on your path, and set forth to make the most of your life.
